A new embroidery hoop wreath, Spring fever and St Patty's Day fun.

Hello friends!
I have to tell you, I feels really crazy not to have DT requirements to be working on, but.... I'm enjoying the freedom.  For the first time in 15 years I'm not doing any design team work.  It was a hard decision to make but every day I know more and more, that is was the right one.
I have time for so many other things I love to do.
I feel like I missed out on last summer, because I had my car accident May 2, I spent the Summer either in a wheelchair or using the walker.  I am SO Really for warmer weather this year!
I gave the bedroom a little brightening up over the last two weeks. (mini inexpensive makeover lol).

I should have taken a before photo.  Everything was brown. lol Brown comforter, brown lamps, and curtains.  It was cozy for winter, but it's  time for something lighter.  I had picked up that comforter at Walmart.  The photo  was 1/2 off at Hobby Lobby and I found the lamps for $24 at Gordmans. Woo Hoo! I pulled the floor lamp from my studio.   It's kind of  fun to see how much you can change things up without having to spend a lot. Hey, I'm not proud, I love getting a good deal.  And if I don't spend a lot, it makes me feel like I can change things out more often, without feeling to guilty.
I needed one little thing for that corner wall, so I just dug into some craft stuff I have. I wanted it to be simple. I used a large embroidery hood, some wide lace (over lapping in the middle to show off the decorative edge of the lace), added some flowers, leaves and a few little gems on the lace.    It only took a few minutes and it's just want that corner was needing.

What else had been keeping me busy?  I have been working like crazy on these layouts for hire I'm doing for someones 9 grandkids.  They are simple layouts, so I can get through a number of them a day. Since I started, I've done hundreds.  These kids are all in high school and /or college now.  I have never seen them in person, but I have to say, I feel like I've watched them grown up.

When I take a break from working on those, at night I have been stitching these as they sell. I have a hard time just sitting and watching tv without something in my hands to work on. I enjoy stitching so much.

Last night we went to the fish fry in Jarad and Kates little town and then over to their house for a bit.
My sis and Keith joined us and Kate parents also.
( I just noticed in the background they put up a rotary phone).  I love that they love old things :)
For those of you who missed the post .. they bought an old country school house that had be made into a  home.  It had so much history and character.

Jarad is never thrilled when I start with taking photos. lol

Everyone has to get in on the St Patty's day action. lol

Jep stayed with us this weekend, as Amy is in Cabo with girlfriends and Wes had to work. He's such a good dog, and Lily and Daisy love having him here.

** Why is it I feel like I should have a disclaimer on my blog header, saying "If your not a dog person, you may want to click off this blog". lol  I know... we are dog crazy!

Wishing you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day.
If you're having Corned beef and Cabbage  and green beer... enjoy!
If your staying in out of the rain in your jammies like me... enjoy!

Fun new Tammy Tutterow dies and stamps to play with and it's stitching time

Hey friends!
I got a fun box of happy mail the other day, and I thought I'd share a peek with you. It's some new products from Tammy Tutterow. Stamps and dies.   You know I love her stuff anyway, but this new stuff is just over the top cute!
When I opened the box I had to try cutting some felt with some of the adorable little flowers that come is some of the sets.  I was feeling the need to do a little quick stitching, so I glanced around looking for some thing to stitch "upon". lol  I found this canvas glasses case from Canvas Corp in my stash, and decided to make myself a new case for my readers.
I couldn't dig into a huge project right at that time, so this was just perfect.  Super quick, easy and fun!   A great little project to help my get my stitching fix!

Here is a peek at some of the new stamps and dies.

Super cute, huh?   I LOVE them all!

You'll be seeing me use these babies a lot!

You can find them here at

You can also find Tammy on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and here on her website
or subscribe to her  blog for more inspiration.

She is one talented gal!

Stitching that was just a short break from working on the scrapbook pages I am doing for hire.  I've finished another 50.
It kind of feels good to be using up a lot of old papers. I think we are all a bit guilty of wanting the newest, latest and greatest, but I was digging back in my bins of papers for working on these pages and there are plenty of great papers!
I have my newer papers in my racks.

And my Fancy Pants Designs collections in 12x12 bins above.

But ... I  opened the craft storage closet in the hall and realized I had BINS of older papers ( cardstock scraps and stickers) that would still be great for these albums.   So... I opened up a big table in my craft room and set them all out so I could have a look see.  It's my mission to use up some of these papers for these pages. It's a shame they are all just sitting in the closet.  So, it's my new challenge to myself.
While I'm working on these layouts, I'm going to leave these papers our on this table for easy access.  I'll just have to close the door to my craft room so it doesn't drive my crazy.  I usually put  everything away after I work on a project but in this case it's ongoing... so it's silly to keep taking it out and putting it away.

The grandmother who hired me to do these albums for her 9 grand kids is always just so tickled with them, that it makes me happy.
It's worked out well for me to be doing this right now.  I can make some money without having to be on my feet.

It's been hard not to get discouraged with this foot pain.  It will be coming up on a year May 2nd , since my car accident.  I had a compound fracture of my Talus Bone. Two surgeries, no weight baring for 12 weeks, then partial weight baring for 3 more.. then therapy. I thought that would be it.   But the pain never went away.   After seeing my appointment with my Orthopedic surgeon , we found that there was a non-union of the joints.  Meaning the joint did not heal and broke down instead.  Once the happened arthritis takes over the joint.

What are the options?  Fusion surgery. Where they would fuse the two bones together, since it's not a   joint that can be replaced.    I told the doctor that I wanted to give it a full year before deciding. I think in my mind, I just thought... "oh, it will get better", or the pain will probably be tolerable and I can deal with it.  At this point, I'm feeling like neither of those is working out  :(

Am I ready to start over with another surgery and  be laid up for another 3-4 months. No.  So ... I'm just trying to figure out what helps the most for now.
Just take each day as it comes, and try not to constantly complain.
Today the swelling it less... so that is a good thing.  I'll take that for now.

On an up note.... I am going to Florida the first week in April to spend time with my Sis and family there, so I'm super excited about that! YAY!

I hope all of you are doing well!  If you live where it's cold, I'm sure your probably looking forward to Spring as much as I am!  Bring it!

Thank for stopping by!  Hugs all around!

St Patty's Day cards

Hey friends!
Today was the first day I've taken a break from working on the layouts I'm doing for hire, and worked on some cards. I took her another 67 layouts.  I'm always so thankful for my Fancy Pants collections when I'm working on these layouts.... because they make things so easy.  I pull out a collection and I have the papers, stickers, title, and embellishments that all coordinated  right there!  They save me so much time!  My studio still looks like a tornado hit it by the end of the day, but hey, that's just how I roll. lol
Today I used Graphic 45 images, mixed with some other papers.  Now since I've decided to step back from my design team requirements, It's really nice to create what I want with whatever supplies  I want. Lots of creative freedom <3 p="">
The weather has been pretty blah the last few days.  Grey and cold!  I always love the view out of my upstairs studio window, but even that has been pretty bleak.  It's Feb in Nebraska.  We just look forward to a sunny day now and then, even if it's cold.
Good thing I have no where to go and it's nice and toasty warm in here.

It's been pretty boring around here the last week ,but considering all that went on in January, THAT is totally fine with me!
I did book my ticket to go see my Florida family the first part of April, so I'm really looking forward to that!

Below is something I saw on FB that I thought was so clever.  Super fun project for kids.  I thought I'd share it here.

With Green being my favorite color, it's probably surprising that I don't really put out any St Patrick's Day Decorations. ( I do always make corned beef and cabbage that day tho)  Maybe I should start putting out a little something. I'm pretty sure I did when the kids were little.
How many of you put our St Patty's decor?
I'd love to hear.

Have a great day! Vicki

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
Since I shared my Valentines Day cards in my last post, my card today is "love" themed, not exactly Valentines.  So I hope it counts :)
There is just something about pink and red that is just so beautiful! Toss in a little vintage text and I'm really in love.

I spent the last week stitching hearts.  Practically in my sleep. lol  Lets just say.... I made a lot!  I'm so thankful to everyone who ordered! Seriously, thanks so much! It makes me so happy that people enjoy them!
I love hand stitching. I find it so relaxing.  As you can see by the remote in the middle of the pile, I watched more than my fair amount of Netfix this weekend also. lol
It was Dan's work weekend, so it kept me busy, and worked out well.

Today we stopped over to see Glen and Petey ( Aunt and Uncle on Dan's side). They are just so darn cute together!   These two don't let anything stop them! We had such a nice visit.
I just had to share this adorable photo.  Well, and since I've got the whole "Love" things going on in this post, it seemed totally fitting.

I'm hoping to do a little paper crafting the next couple of day, so I'll be back to share more.

Wishing you all a day filled with love!

( and a dog, of course) lol

Hugs, Vicki

Fancy Pants Designs Valentine Cards, orgainization and Random other things

Hi Friends!
Strange title for a post, I know, but it's so true. "Random" kind of feels like it should be my "word" for 2018, the way it's started.  Most of you who follow here, know it's been a rough start to the year for our family. Loosing our sister and our brother in law two days apart was overwhelming. Then a few days later we lost a dear cousin. Since then a close friend of our son Weston, passed away . He had cystic fibrosis. He got the call about that just after we left  our sister in laws, mothers funeral.  So much sadness for one month. Things have to start looking up right? Lets hope so.

Valentines Day is right around the corner, so it's time to share a few Valentines Cards. These cards are made with the Sweet Nothings Collection

Along with the other hard things this month, after great thought, I've decided to give up my Design Teams. I have been with Fancy Pants since their very first Collection so many years ago, and loved every minute of working with this company. They are amazing people!  I just feel like it's time to step back from assignments, and deadlines for a bit.  Of course I will always create with Fancy Pants products and always use Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L products, because I love them! Great companies with great products!

I will continue to blog, because I cant go without crafting and sharing. lol

I have been blogging since April of 2006!  It's part of my routine.  I wish I could stay that committed to a diet or exercise routine :(   hahaha

There was a bright spot in last week. Lunch with the girls. Way better than therapy. lol  These ladies are such a blessing to me!

After lunch, Jan and I strolled thru Hobby Lobby ( or in my case... hobbled).
I made her take a selfie with me and this sign a saw.  After our cattle adventurers in SD the week before, I thought it was only fitting.

Cows on the highway

I also have to share this photo of Jarad (our youngest) and our daughter in law Kate, at the fire fighters banquet. I'm so proud of the volunteer work they both do.  Jarad is now not only a fire fighter but a certified EMT.  They do good things for their little community and I'm so proud of them!

Remember, I warned you that this post would be random.

Today I worked on organizing my pantry.  Have I mentioned that I love organizing??? Love it!
Anyone who saw my downstairs closet would beg to differ , I'm sure.  lol   That's going to be a job :(

I really fell in love with organizing because of my friend Pam.  Pam is one of the teachers I used to work with when I was a para at school. She was a "High Scope Trainer"
Part of that was setting up the classroom in a way that worked for the kids. It helped them put things away in the proper bins by having photos of that particular thing put on the front of the bin.
I was hooked!
Before you knew it, I was organizing the Supply closet. ( Grown ups can read .. so of course with words instead of photos).
Now I love to use those tips to organize my home.
When we have company here for a get together, and I run out of counter space, this pantry seems to be the catch-all for extra chip, buns ect...  BUT.. with it being labeled  and organized in bins, it certainly makes it easy to put things back in place later.

The same goes for my craft room.  For one thing, if I don't label things, I forget what I have. lol  The other thing is .. when I create, I'm MESSY!  I drag out everything to get just want I want to use.  There are times it looks like a bomb went off in here at the end of the the day.  But again, with things being labeled, it's much easier, not only to find ,but to put away.

This is the other craft supply closet. It needs a bit of attention ( I just now walked in a snapped a photo) , but you get the idea of  "bins and labels"

There are so many great tips for organization on Pinterest.  But I truly believe ( at least for me), that using clear containers and / or  labeling is key. Also prioritizing, by putting the things you use most right in front and handy!

Winter is a great time to work on organizing. Wish me luck on that downstairs closet.

If you've stayed with me this far.  Congratulations.. and thank you! lol

At this point, by goal is to just get through February with it being better than January.

Thank you friends,

Mini Felt stitched hearts and the best Chocolate Chip Cookies ever!

I thought it was time for a  bit happier post, and to share something crafty with you.  I had pretty much maxed my self out with stitching when I made all the larger felt stitched hearts I made a few weeks ago, but.....    I needed something to tie on these bags of cookies, so I did a few mini hearts.
If you like to hand stitch, these are quick and easy to make.  And.. if you like stitching and haven't stitched much on with felt, give it a try! You will fall in love! Felt is so easy to stitch on. ( hint, when buying your felt, spend the extra bit to get the heavier felt because it stitches like a dream).

I cut a paper pattern for the center heart, and then just add the layers and trim around them as I go.  The flower die is from AccuCut.  I use 3 strands of floss.

What's in the bags you ask?  Well, probably the best darn Chocolate Chip cookies I've ever made.  I found this recipe on Pinterest, just on a whim the other day.  On such a whim, that I didn't even remember to pin it, I just took a screen shot with my phone. ugh!
I'd love to give credit to the site if I knew it.  If I find it, I'll link it up, but until then the recipe is below.
This is the first batch I made to take with us when we went to SD. ( without food  coloring).
The ones in the Valentine bags, I just added pink food coloring too before I added the flour.

                                           Chocolate Chip cookies

Do not over bake. The tops wont get really brown.  Lift one up with a spatula and if the bottom is lightly browned, take them out and remove from pan.  (Using parchment paper worked great for baking).   10 minutes worked great for my oven.
Store in a sealed container.

Well, if the cookies didn't get your interest, try a couple hundred cows in the middle of the highway, headed straight for you. lol     Yes, this is what we encountered on our rural South Dakota road trip last week.   It was crazy!
The rancher road up to us on his four wheeler and asked if we could back up and pull into a little drive way thing a ways back, and let the cows pass.  As we are backing up , they are running at us, and getting closer and closer. ( just on a mission to do as they were told of course lol)  It was something to see!

The were moving them from one field to another field across the highway.  Luckily its not a busy highway. We were the only ones.  It was amazing to hear how quiet they were. All you heard was their hooves.  The rancher said that keeping them calm is key.
I can cross that off my bucket list. lol

And, if that wasn't excitement enough, we also  saw the Corn Palace in Michell SD.   I had seen it once before as a teenager, but still interesting.

The Corn Palace

A few facts I found about the Corn Palace

The outside exterior of the Mitchell Corn Palace is decorated with thousands of colorful corn cobs, grains and grasses. All of this is held together by tons of wires, staples and nails. Each spring, the creative murals of grain are replaced to reflect a different theme or event going on in the community.

Worlds largest Bird Feeder  -

The Mitchell Corn Palace is known as the biggest bird feeder ever invented. After the festivities of the Corn Festival have ended, the birds and squirrels begin to feast on the outside murals. They are fed all during the long winter months. Nothing goes to waste.

We had been in SD for a funeral of  cousin.  After being with our family there, we drove four more hours over to see our Aunt who has been moved to a different care facility nearer her son.  We adore our Aunts and Uncles and are happy any time we have a chance to spend some time with them.  Luckily my Brother in law Keith, is amazing about offering to be our driver.

Although we had to said goodbye to  our cousin Cheryl, it was a beautiful service and being with our SD family always fills our hearts.

January has been a rough month full of loss for our family, but I am trying to focus on all that I still have to be thankful for .... and it's a lot.

 Hugs all  around!
Thanks for stopping by

A Special love

This is a very hard post, that's why I haven't done it until now.  I promise I'll be back with some crafty things to share down the road, but I felt like I needed to share about what's been going on in my life with my family these past few weeks.  It's been a very sad time.  We have had a big loss in our family. It feels like a big hole in our hears right now.  Over the past couple of weeks we lost my sis... and my brother in law.
My brother in law had been in poor health for years, and had recently gone downhill.  My sis did everything to care for him and make him comfortable.  Hospice was coming a few times a week and she had a hospital bed brought in to their home so she could care for him there.
Although she was in good health, it was a lot to handle, but she certainly would not have had it any other way.   My sister Sharon had flown to AZ from FL to help out for a couple of weeks. We were all glad Sharon was there to help out and also to give Donna moral support, as they were very close.
For Sharon I know being there when Donna unexpectedly passed, was SO hard. We all wished we could instantly snap our fingers and be there with her.  Family got there quickly. It was a shock to all of us, but for her, it had to be the worst.  I know Donna's last thoughts would have been... that she was thankful Sharon was there, and that Ron would be taken care of .

Their love and commitment to each other was never ending and an amazing this to see. They had just had their 60th wedding anniversary.  They were planning a celebration before Ron's health took a turn for the worse.
They were a team.  When Donna knew Ron's time was coming, she said "what will I do without my best friend?" , "We've been together since we were kids."
In a million years we never imagined that she would leave first.

We got the call two days later that Ron had now passed.

Some of you who have been coming here to my blog for a long time, know I come from a  large family.  I am the youngest of 7. Donna was the first born.   She was a bundle of energy! She did for everyone!  Ron, was a man of character, who spent time in the service and was a hard working man all his life
Because of the age span in us siblings, Ron was actually a part of this family longer than I have been!  Ron and Donna were married before I was Born. They had two children. I have a nephew 3 years older than me and and niece two months younger than me.  It might sound odd to some, but to us it was totally normal.
I could go on and on about them and the amazing people they were but my emotions are getting the best of me, just writing  what I have.  January has been a hard month for us.  On top of this loss, we lost a dear cousin, so we just returned home on Friday.

These two did for family and their community ..constantly.  They loved their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all their hearts.

This is a photo of my family taken a few years ago.  My dad and my brother Gary had already passed when this was taken.
Back row: Me, Dan, Ray, Jan
Front row: Sharon, Mom , Donna

I take comfort in knowing that there was a grand reunion in heaven when they arrived.

We now just need some time for our hearts to heal.
